The Chairman of the Ports Authority, General Daya Ratnayake said that the report on the Eastern Jetty has been prepared in consultation with all, including the Ports Trade Unions and the management. Accordingly, it is safe to say that this issue could be resolved in a positive manner as everyone had hoped, said the Chairman of the Ports Authority, General Daya Ratnayake.
The Chairman said that he was confident that the Eastern Terminal would be developed by the Ports Authority itself in the future.
Daya Ratnayake stated this at a media briefing held yesterday (30) afternoon.
The report already prepared is due to be handed over to the Minister in charge of the subject today and it will be presented to the Cabinet tomorrow.
Ratnayake said that the present government had resorted to the relevant methodology as the issue regarding the Eastern Jetty was an issue raised by the previous government, especially as it was an international agreement and could not be withdrawn at once.
Accordingly, it can be said that this issue will be resolved as everyone expected in a very optimistic manner, Daya Ratnayake further emphasized.
