Social media users are questioning if it is not a conflict of interest for the current Minister of Justice, Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe’s juniors including his son Rakitha Rajapaksa to appear for fraudster Thilini Priyamali in courts. Rakitha, an Attorney-at-Law along with a team of other lawyers including Attorney Dasun Nagashena represented Priyamali in court yesterday.
This also did not escape the notice of the lawyer appearing for the aggrieved. Maithri Gunaratne PC in court commented on the fact that the Justice Minister’s team of lawyers have arrived in court to represent Thilini Priyamali.
Nagashena responded with a slight smile and went on to request bail for the fraudster. However, the courts turned down the request and ordered for her and her partner Isuru Bandara to be remanded again till November 2.
