John Keels Holdings (JKH) has announced the appointment to its main board of Dr. Sharmini Coorey, a former senior official of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and currently a member of the Presidential Advisory Group on Multilateral Engagement and Debt Sustainability advising the Government of Sri Lanka during the economic crisis.
JKH has for long been keen on a woman director on it board, and this new appointment of a highly accomplished Harvard trained economists with a 35-year career in the IMF reflects this. Coorey, who in the course of her career had served nine years as a Director of the IMF, its most senior staff level, retired in November 2021.
She joined the IMF through the Economist Program in 1986 and, during her 35-year career there, worked in positions of increasing seniority in its African, Asia and Pacific, European, and Western Hemisphere departments, as well as its Policy Development and Review Department.
