NPP Presidential Candidate Anura Kumara Dissanayake yesterday said that people will always take pride in saying that they have voted for NPP because they shouldered the responsibility of establishing a government that fulfills people’s hopes and dreams.
Addressing the NPP’s final election rally in Nugegoda Dissanayake said that his party meticulously steered our movement toward victory even before this election campaigns were officially started. “We didn’t merely conduct an election campaign. We identified the strategic plans and key stakeholders necessary for rebuilding this country,” he said.
The NPP Leader said that they held a number of discussions to devise the necessary strategies for revitalising each field. “We also obtained the assistance from the retired members of the armed forces and police, who contributed significantly to our cause.”
He said that the NPP formed women’s committees and developed the movement as a powerful force based on our belief that the true force behind our victory would be the people of this country.
“Ranil Wickremesinghe thought he could win the election by leveraging state power, increasing government sector salaries just before the postal vote. But this election is not just about winning votes; it is a manifestation of the people’s rise and their determination for change.”
“We can promise that you will always take pride in saying, “We voted for NPP,” because we will establish a government that fulfills the hopes and dreams of the people. NPP is committed to delivering on the people’s expectations.”
“Additionally, our education system is in a state of crisis. Over 50% of our schools have less than 200 students and 18% have less than 50 students. In rural areas, there’s a severe shortage of teachers. If we are to move forward as a nation, we must transform our education system,”he said.
