Following the recent Parliamentary elections, the Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK) has announced the immediate suspension of members who left the party to contest the elections with other parties or independent groups, including P.Ariyanethiran who contested the recent Presidential election, against party wishes, ITAK spokesperson M.A.Sumanthiran said.

Accordingly, former Parliamentarian C. Sivamohan has also been suspended from the party.

Speaking at a press conference after a ITAK meeting held in Vavuniya on Saturday (28), M.A.Sumanthiran stated that Sivamohan faces multiple allegations, including directly attacking party candidates during the election period and holding media briefings against them.

As a result, the party has decided to suspend him and seek an explanation. Ariyanethran has already been suspended, and there is a proposal to expel him from the party as well.

Additionally, the ITAK has decided to immediately expel all members who contested against the party with other parties or independent groups in the recent elections.

Furthermore, disciplinary action will be taken against those who campaigned for other parties and groups or against the party’s decisions during the Presidential election. Some actions have already been taken against certain individuals, Sumanthiran added.
