The Government’s Interim Vote on Account seeking Parliament’s approval to spend Rs. 1,403 billion from January 1, 2025 to April 30, 2025 for maintaining state affairs and continuing ongoing projects was presented to Parliament yesterday by the Leader of the House, Minister Bimal Ratnayake.
This Interim Vote on Account, which is intended to continue Government operations and debt servicing for the first four months of 2025, has allocated Rs. 976 billion (Rs. 976,074,263,000) as recurring expenditure. The Transport, Highways, Ports, and Civil Aviation Ministry has received the highest allocation of Rs. 220.06 billion.
Rs.186.02 billion has been allocated for the Finance, Planning, and Economic Development Ministry while Rs. 170.47 billion has been allocated for the Public Administration, Provincial Councils, and Local Government Ministry.
Rs.161.99 billion has been allocated for the Health and Mass Media Ministry while Rs. 142.95 billion has been allocated for the Defence Ministry.
Rs.92 billion has been allocated for the Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education Ministry and Rs. 67.36 billion has been allocated for the Agriculture, Lands, Livestock, and Irrigation Ministry.
Rs.2.6 billion (Rs.2,644,940,000) has been allocated to the President’s expenditure head and Rs.378 million (378,000,000) to the Prime Minister’s Office.
Rs.5.9 billion (Rs. 5,927,350,000) has been allocated for the Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Ministry and Rs.67.3 billion (Rs.67,361,000,000) has been allocated for Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation.Rs. 4.3 billion (Rs. 4,330,550,000) has been allocated for the Energy Ministry.
Rs.17.1 billion (Rs.17,194,920,000) has been allocated for the Urban Development, Construction and Housing Ministry and Rs. 9.4 billion (Rs.9,414,868,000) for the Rural Development, Social Security and Community Empowerment Ministry.
Rs.3.6 billion (Rs.3,652,000,000) has been allocated for Plantations and Public Infrastructure Ministry and Rs.4.4 billion (Rs. 4,464,800,000) has been allocated for Industrial and Entrepreneurship Development Ministry Rs. 4.4 billion (Rs. 4,464,800,000)
Rs. 5.7 billion (Rs. 5,769,000,000) has been allocated for Fisheries, Aquatic and Marine Resources Ministry and Rs. 4.9 billion (Rs. 4,938,000,000) has been allocated for the Environment Ministry.
Rs. 5.07 billion (Rs. 5,079,133,000) has been allocated for the Women and Child Affairs Ministry and Rs.3.7 billion (Rs.3,744,700,000) has been allocated for Digital Economy Ministry.
Rs. 65.0 billion (Rs.65,064,575,000) has been allocated for the Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs Ministry and Rs.2 billion (Rs.2,086,945,000) has been allocated for the Labour Ministry.
Rs. 3.7 billion (Rs.3,760,000,000) has been allocated for the Youth Affairs and Sports Ministry and Rs.1.7 billion (Rs.1,780,000,000) has been allocated for the Science and Technology Ministry through the interim budget.
