Health and Mass Media Minister Dr.Nalinda Jayatissa, emphasised in Parliament yesterday that the claims made by the Opposition that the inaugural of “Clean Sri Lanka initiative “caused Rs.7 million are completely false.
The Minister pointed out that “Rs.7 million have not been spent on the Clean Sri Lanka inauguration as reported by some media organisations. Only an amount of Rs.900,000 had been approved as payments, which has also not been paid yet,” he added.
The Minister emphasized that the allegations made in Parliament day before yesterday in this regard is completely false and that the allegations raised over the exorbitant amounts being paid for web developers for creating the relevant website and musicians and lyricists to write the song are completely false.
The Minister further stated that no more than Rs.900,000 has been spent on the inauguration of this project and will not be spent more than that in the future as well.
As is the norm, there were bids for this. However, it seems that the MP Chamara Sampath misunderstood the amount mentioned in those bids,” he explained. However, several bids were rejected due to the high cost.The Minister made this statement in response to allegations made day before yesterday by Parliamentarian Chamara Sampath Dassanayake said the government had not complied with the tender procedure and that Rs. 7 million had been allocated for the inauguration ceremony of Clean Sri Lanka Initiative.
