Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya told Parliament yesterday that no NPP MP has been provided with a vehicle except for the visually impaired MP Sugath Wasantha De Silva.
She said that the Presidential Secretariat has provided a car to MP Sugath Wasantha de Silva as a special need but a driver or fuel has not been provided for him.
She said this in response to the question raised by MP Chamara Sampath Dassanayake who alleged that eventhough the NPP said no vehicles given to MPs or Ministers by the Government, two ruling party MPs are using Government vehicles.
“There are vehicles at the Madiwela Housing Complex being used irresponsibly,” he said, adding that “A Range Rover, more expensive than a V8, is being driven by a Minister in this Parliament. Should I name him? Wasantha Samarasinghe.”
