Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and in Galle and Matara districts during the morning.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Northern, North-central, Eastern, Uva and Central provinces. Heavy showers above 100 mm can be expected at some places in Eastern, Uva and Central provinces and in Polonnaruwa district. Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places elsewhere during the afternoon or night. Fairly heavy showers above 75mm can be expected at some places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle, Matara and Kurunegala districts.
Fairly strong winds of (30-40) kmph can be expected at times over Northern, Eastern, North-central and North-western provinces and in Hambantota district.
Winds will be north-easterly and speed will be (30-40) kmph. Wind speed can increase up to (50-60) kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Galle to Hambantota via Colombo, Puttalam, Kankasanthurai, Trincomalee and Batticaloa.
The sea areas off the coasts extending from Galle to Hambantota via Colombo, Puttalam, Kankasanthurai, Trincomalee and Batticaloa will be rough at times. Other sea areas around the island may be fairly rough at times.
The swell waves (about 2.0 – 2.5 m) height may increase in the sea areas off the coast extending from Mullaittivu to Batticaloa via Trincomalee. (this is not for land area)
Strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
