SJB leader Sajith Premadasa yesterday (18) requested the Election Commission (EC) not to initiate the process pertaining to local government (LG) polls until the conclusion of the ongoing budget debate.
Having led a top level Opposition delegation for talks with the EC, Premadasa said that the process could begin after 21 March as the vast majority of government MPs were newcomers they didn’t realise the importance of the budget process.
