Much acclaimed UK based, political research and statistical study agency Network has released its much anticipated Presidential Polls Survey today morning as the campaigns drew to an end beginning the pre-polls silent period of 48 hours.

The survey which has been conducted Island wide across multiple ethnic and demographic groups has executed a significant sense of privacy for its respondents allowing the responses to be accurate and authentic. According to the report, none of the candidates have secured a 50% in the first count and for the first time in the history of Sri Lanka, the island nation may witness a second count.

Also the polls, show a significant surprise vote trend for the incumbent President Wickremesinghe (RW) who has come in second closely to Anura Kumara Dissanayake (AKD), the presidential candidate of the NPP. Sajith Premadasa (SP) who many called out to be the winner at the start of the election has witnessed a steep decline. The survey puts AKD at 32.9%, Ranil Wickremesinghe at 30.11% and SP trailing behind at third place with a 24.66% leaving a significant margin of people of around 8.32% as undecided voters. The in-fighting within the SJB has caused significant damage to SP’s campaign coordination.

According to the survey, RW has secured the majority in the Northern Province together with Batticalo , Digamadulla, Puttlam and Badulla while SP has managed to secure the majority only in Trincomalee while AKD has won all the rest of the districts.

Network was also known to have called the Indian Election most accurately. While many predicted that BJP led by Prime Minister Modhi is most likely to secure more than 350 seats, Network’s survey called that the margin of victory would be thin and was proven to be accurate with the actual results.

Sri Lankan Presidential Polls are less than 48 hours away.
