UNP’s new General Secretary Thalatha Athukorala yesterday extended an open invitation to the Samagi Jana Balawegaya to re-unite with the party.
Addressing the media after assuming duties as the General Secretary at the party headquarters, Sirikotha, Atukorala said that those who are in the SJB are from the United National Party and she tries her best to reunite with the party.
“The victory of the UNP means the victory of the people. I was of the opinion from the very beginning that both UNP and SJB should unite for the betterment of the country and the people”, she said.
She said that her effort to re-unite the party has received the blessings of the party leader and former President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
