Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa told Parliament yesterday that there has been a rapid increase in homicides and drug trafficking in the country.
“This year alone, 101 shooting incidents and sixty deaths from shootings have been reported. Apart from that the passport issue has become another serious problem. However, the Government has still failed to provide a solution to this problem. Instead of the visible queue, an online queue has also been created due to this issue.
A large number of ships have avoided the Colombo Port due to the slow container clearance at the Port. In addition to that, senior citizens have lost their 15 percent interest rate advantage received to their accounts. I request the Government to provide a clear solution to these issues,” the Opposition Leader said.
