This is not new ,from time immemorial this has happened in in resident religious institutions,both male and female novices are subjected to mental and physical abuse.
It is the responsibility and the duty of the incumbent senior residents to look after and nurture the young residents and is the responsibility of the senior monks etc. to look after and nurture the young ones.
And they should perform this extremely important task well.
