State Minister Tharaka Balasuriya was unanimously elected as the chairman of the Committee on Economic Stabilization, at its first meeting held on Thursday (Apr. 27) in the Parliament. His name was proposed by State Minister Shehan Semasinghe and seconded by MP M. Rameswaran.
The functions of this committee include examining the performance, financial stability, investment management and opportunities for public private partnership of state-owned enterprises.
The future work of the committee was discussed at the meeting in such a way that the scopes of other financial committees such as the Committee on Public Enterprises do not conflict with each other. Accordingly, the Chairman of the committee stated that he is expected to meet the Chairman of the Committee on Public Enterprises and discuss this matter.
