News Room : Evening showers in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces while fair weather will prevail elsewhere – The Island

Several spells of showers will occur in Eastern and Uva provinces and in Polonnaruwa, Matale, Nuwara-Eliya and Hambanthota districts. Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces and in Galle and Matara districts after 2.00 p.m.

Winds will be north-easterly.  Fairly strong winds about (30-40) kmph can be expected at times in eastern slopes of the central hills and in Northern, North-central, North-western, Uva and Eastern provinces and in Hambantota district. Wind speed may increase up to 50 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coasts extending from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota, and from Colombo to Kankasanthurai via Puttalam.

The sea areas off the coasts extending from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota and from Colombo to Kankasanthurai via Puttalam can be fairly rough at times. Other sea areas around the island can be moderate.

The public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
